Twilight

Twilight is time between sunset and dusk when the earth’s surface is neither completely dark nor completely lit. The light is not provided by gu 10 light bulbs but by sunlight scattering in the upper atmosphere. Photographers and painters absolutely love twilight due to the distinctive ambient light during twilight, referring to it as “blue hour”. In Hinduism, twilight is sacred, and is called “cow dust time”. Hindus believe that twilight is the ideal time for study and also for the performance of rituals such as Sandhyayandanam and Puja. The length of twilight is directly influenced by the observer’s latitude in the world. Twilight can last several hours in the Antarctic and Arctic regions whilst at the equator, twilight can last less than twenty minutes, day becoming night almost immediately. At low latitudes, the sun’s perceived movement is actually perpendicular to the observer’s horizon, whilst at the poles, the sun is closer towards the horizon and at a lower angle.

Lose the car?

I cycle everywhere, I love being on my bike and my boyfriend does too so it's a great way to get about together or on our own. We still have a car which is due for its insurance renewal, so I'm looking online at car insurance quotes and wondering if we even need a car any more! We use the car if we're going a long distance, if we're going to do a big food shopp or buying something hefty that needs transporting home. All these are pretty occasional, and we tend to do food shopping in dribs and drabs throughout the week, on our bikes anyway. But, it is useful having the option of the car, if there's torrential rain or one of us hurts ourselves and can't ride for a while. Plus, we're thinking about starting a family soon so we'll definitely need the car more than bikes then. Maybe I should be looking at family life insurance as well as car insurance then. I just wish there was a cheap pay as you go option to car insurance and road tax, so much of it is wasted! Photo: visitflanders (Flickr)
I love my bike. I am on it every weekend cycling round near where I live. I am quite lucky as I live in the country so on a Friday I can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and go on weekend cycling routes though countryside and not worry about being hit by a bus! What is also great it my boyfriend and I make a little route up of where we want to go, based on the pubs that are on the way. So halfway through we will stop off and have lunch in a nice beer garden and chill. So with the nice weather recently it has been ten times better and more enjoyable, BUT the only problem is the nice weather is giving me a tan (don’t worry that’s not the problem) and it is giving me tan lines! Now I know what you are thinking what a vain woman! But the issue is my sister is getting married in 3 weeks and I have to wear a strapless bridesmaid dress and that will not look good with tan lines! So with the variety of women’s tops out there you think I could find a nice boob tube top that will stay up when I am riding! But I haven’t yet! Any ideas let me know as I think what is worse than tan lines is flashing motorist when I am on my bike!! Picture: my.opera.com
So I've only upgraded my bike very recently, and as it was quite a hefty price, I've been taking really good care of it. What I didn't really factor into the equation is how much repairs will cost whenever anything goes wrong! I was cycling over Vauxhall Bridge and there was a load of smashed glass in the cycle path that completely slashed my front tyre. The road busy with cars and lots of bikes behind me, so I couldn't jump off straight away, but had to carry on to the end of the bridge to avoid an accident. The slash was so bad that the air was completely drained from the tyre and by not getting off straight away, the weight has completely messed up my wheel! The guys in the bike shop are trying to re-true it, but they think I might need to buy a replacement - which is a small fortune! I can't afford a new wheel, so if that's the case I'm going to be straight on Wonga.com to get a pay day loan, I need my bike every day and can't wait until I get paid to get it sorted! What a disastrous day! Photo: Ethan Woods (Flickr)
R4’s have been kicking about the place for quite a while really and have been quite the asset to the Nintendo System. The problem of late though has been that they weren’t compatible with the latest versions of the console, leaving many a gamer in a constant position of woe and general foreboding. The wait is finally over though and finally have a replacement, the aptly named, R4i a multi-purpose adapter that is cross compatible with all of the older versions of the DS meaning it is something of an investment in itself as well as being positive edition to your current DS tool kit. Personally, since grabbing one I’ve not been able to live without one and I’m sure that you won’t be able to. Grab one now to revolutionise your own current gaming situation. Image: r4i4DS
